HBO’s acclaimed period drama The Gilded Age is now casting paid background actors for Season 4.

Grant Wilfley Casting is seeking New York-area locals to portray 1880s Black Elite Event Attendees and Black upper-class event goers for scenes filming in Troy, New York and New York City.

This is a paid opportunity for background actors who want to work on a major HBO period production and help bring the elegance of 1880s high society to life.

Fittings

Costume fittings will take place in Troy, NY during the week of May 18, 2026. Everyone booked must attend a fitting before filming.

Because this is a period drama, costume sizing is very important and may affect selection.

Pay Rates

Pay may vary based on union status and booking type.

Non-SAG:

Shoot rate: $187 for 10 hours

Fitting rate: $46.75 for 2.5 hours

SAG-AFTRA:

Shoot rate: $224 for 8 hours

Fitting rate: $56 for 2 hours

Applicant Requirements

Casting is looking for adults who can fit the 1880s period style. Applicants must be 18 or older, local to the required area, comfortable wearing period clothing, and able to work around atmospheric smoke.

Additional requirements may include no visible tattoos, removable piercings only, natural nails, no modern hairstyles, and willingness to receive period-appropriate hair or facial hair adjustments if needed.
