HBO’s acclaimed period drama The Gilded Age is now casting paid background actors for Season 4 in Upstate New York, New York City, and Newport, Rhode Island.
Casting is open for local hires only, with filming in Troy, Albany, Schenectady, NYC, and Newport. Troy shoot dates are currently set for June 8–10, 2026. The project is being cast by Grant Wilfley Casting (GWCI).
Created by Julian Fellowes, the series is set in the late 1800s and follows the power struggles between old-money families and rising industrial elites in a world of luxury, ambition, and social change.
Casting directors are looking for background actors to portray:
high-society guests
city pedestrians
ballroom attendees
Applicants must be local to the filming areas, comfortable wearing 1880s period costumes, and willing to make appearance adjustments such as haircuts or facial hair changes if needed. A natural, period-appropriate look is required, with no visible tattoos, facial piercings, or modern-style nails.
Pay rates include:
SAG-AFTRA: $224/8 hours, fitting $56/2 hours
Non-union: $187/10 hours, fitting $46.75/2.5 hours
To apply, register at ******.app/talent and prepare your contact details, union status, sizes and measurements, plus current close-up and full-body photos.
This is a great chance to work on a major HBO production, wear authentic period costumes, and gain on-set experience while getting paid.
