Community Theater Auditions in Nutley, New Jersey

Nutley Little Theatre has announced auditions for “A Doll’s House, Part 2”, written by Lucas Hnath and directed by Wanda Maragni.

The play is a continuation of Henrik Ibsen’s classic story. Set 15 years after Nora Helmer left her marriage and family, the story follows Nora as she returns to her former home with an urgent request for her husband, Torvald. The play explores themes of gender roles, identity, relationships, independence, and societal expectations.

Character Breakdown

Nora Helmer — Late 40s to early 50s. A successful feminist writer who returns 15 years after leaving her family. She is strong, independent, and determined to protect her new life.

Torvald Helmer — 50s. Nora’s husband and a banker who raised their three children after Nora left. He holds traditional views and has struggled with life after her departure.

Anne Marie — 60s to 70s. The Helmer family’s housekeeper and nanny. Practical and possibly stern, she helped raise the children and resents Nora for leaving.

Emmy — Late teens to early 20s. Nora and Torvald’s daughter. Raised by Anne Marie, she is confident and self-assured, with qualities that resemble her mother.
