Community Theater Auditions in Deer Park, Texas for “Hairspray”

Art Park Players in Deer Park, Texas is now holding auditions for “Hairspray, The Musical.” The community theater production is looking for performers for principal and ensemble roles in the upcoming show.

Auditions will begin with a video submission round. Interested performers must submit a video that includes a brief slate with their name and the roles they are interested in, 16 to 32 bars of a musical theater song in the style of the show, and a 30 to 60 second monologue. Applicants should also include a headshot and resume.

The production features a wide range of roles, including Tracy Turnblad, Edna Turnblad, Penny Pingleton, Link Larkin, Amber Von Tussle, Velma Von Tussle, Corny Collins, Motormouth Maybelle, Seaweed J. Stubbs, Little Inez, and ensemble parts.

Show dates are scheduled for July 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, and 25, with a possible additional performance on July 26.

Rehearsals will generally be held Mondays through Thursdays from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with some added Fridays. All rehearsals become mandatory beginning June 29, though not every cast member will be called for every rehearsal.
